Discord live captions are part of the Enterprise plan, billed monthly or yearly and sold here on lyricshow.live.
The “Add Lyric Show Live to Discord” button appears above, for Enterprise accounts, when the bot opens to new servers. Add the bot to the Discord server you want captioned — you need the Manage Server permission there. It asks only for what it uses: View Channels, Connect, Send Messages, and Change Nickname (to show 🔴 while it’s captioning).
Choose “Link a Discord server” above to get a single-use code. Within 15 minutes, run /lyricshow link CODE in your server — this needs the Manage Server permission.
Join a voice channel and run /lyricshow start. Use translate_to to pick the translation language (60 languages), or off for captions only, and captions_channel to also post finished lines to a text channel. Run /lyricshow stop when you’re done.

When captions start, the bot posts a notice in the voice channel’s chat: live captions are on, who started them, that speech goes to Soniox for transcription and translation, that audio is not recorded or stored, and how to opt out. While it’s captioning, the bot’s server nickname shows 🔴 (for example “Lyric Show Live 🔴 Captioning”), and it goes back to normal afterwards.
Run /lyricshow opt-out and the bot never listens to you again — your voice isn’t captioned in any server. /lyricshow opt-in undoes it. Leaving the voice channel also stops your voice being captioned.
A session ends automatically when nobody is left in the voice channel for 2 minutes, or when nobody has spoken for 30 minutes. The linked account’s Enterprise plan is checked when captions start and every 15 minutes while they run.
Each Enterprise account includes 100 hours of Discord captions per calendar month, counted while people are talking — long silences don’t count. When they’re used up, captions pause until the 1st. Captions can also be briefly unavailable if the service is at capacity.
Audio is held in memory on our caption server only long enough to forward it to Soniox. It is never written to disk, recorded, or stored. Soniox processes live audio transiently, in memory, without storing it, and does not use customer content to train its models.
Server admins can restrict who may use /lyricshow in Server Settings → Integrations. Linking and unlinking a server always need the Manage Server permission.
Server admins and the Lyric Show Live account holder are responsible for telling participants that captions are running, and for meeting any recording or transcription consent laws that apply where they are.
